Our project against malnutrition in Senegal
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Gallo Souka project aims to improve food security and nutritional conditions in the municipality of Galoya-Toucouleur, Senegal. The project focuses on reducing malnutrition through agricultural development, nutrition education, food processing and the promotion of locally produced nutritious foods. The project began in May 2025.
This project has three principal objectives:
- conduct research and development to create a highly nutritive therapeutic flour recipe using locally grown moringa (a highly nutritious tree species suited for the Senegalese climate)
- transform local crops into value-added food products,
- make these products accessible to the community.
The funds provided by Ampelos are devoted entirely to the R&D required to develop the recipe.
